The Birth of Zeus

The Titan Cronos recieves a prophecy that one of his children will overthrow him. To prevent this, he eats his children each time they are born. Overcome with grief, Cronos' wife hides her last child from Cronos. This child was Zeus. She hides baby Zeus and he is trained to one day overthrow his father.
For the picture, I took a picture of a statue of a little boy with wings. The little boy is obviously young Zeus. He is depressed because he is the only child who has survived from his father's cruel actions. The wings are meant to symbolize that he is a higher being. The enhanced rough texture of the statue shows how rough Zues' childhood was and the things he had to go through to get to the place he is now. Also, the ray of light in the background is a symbol of hope. The odds are all against Zeus, but there is a single ray of hope that he will overthrow his terrible father in the years to come. Overall i think i did a pretty good job. I sharpened the picture and added the background. I also enhanced the shadows by burning them very dark. I'm very proud iwth how this turned out.

Cupid and Psyche

First, I edited the sunset in there from a very bright blue and gray sky. I added a reddish/orange tint to everything to get it to blend in well. In one part of Cupid and Psyche, Cupid is not allowed to marry his love Psyche. As a result he stops shooting arrows. As a result of no one falling in love, the world slowly begins to die. In order to interpret this, I had danny stand behind a dead corn field with nothing in the background. This is to symbolize the rest of the world without love. Also, he is depressed and alone in the presence of a magnificent sunset because he cannot share it with his love Psyche.

Portrait #3

I wanted to try and experiment with a silhoutte portrait in this one. Personally, I think that it turned out very well. I like how the sun is the first focal point, but then it leads the viewer's eye to the dark shadow of Kent. In the beginning there was a branch coming in from the top of the picture, and there was color glares splotched in places. I clone stamped both of these. My favorite part of this picture would most definitely be the background. It creates an amazing sense of depth and also has great texture.

Portrait #2

I like this picture mainly because of the detail. His shirt gives a great sense of texture and also there are ver light shadows cast all over him. I think this is a good representation of Danny mainly because of the confused look on his face. Danny is a very smart kid, but always has a confused and carefree look on his face. I blurred the background severely and erased his lips and eyes to get them to pop out more.

Portrait #1

I find that portraits are intended to be an interpretation of the person within the portrait. For this first one i chose my dog Meatball. In the picture you have this really goofy look on his face and he's very large. You have one big lopping paw in the background which leaves the viewer to interpret what the rest of Meatball looks like. I wish the image was sharper and there was less things going on in the background.

Look Like Lomogrpahy

I actually like the look of this picture better than the original. My two favorite parts are the the "visg" around the center, creating a better and more prominent focal point. Also, I like how sharp and detailed the image is. All the while, this still remains an interpretation of the color red.

The Yellow Wallpaper

The main point of this piece is to show how the girl within the painting appears trapped. Like the girl within the story, she would always see a girl trapped within the wallpaper, trying to get out. In reality, she saw that girl as herself, because she was free during the day when her husband was gone, but trapped at night when he was there. In this photo, you can really see the girl in the painting blend in almost and you mainly know that it is a person becuase of the eyes. I color balanced the photo to an extreme yellow and converted most of the colors within it to yellow. But i also left some colors so the viewer could still grasp the basic shape of a person.
