The Birth of Zeus

The Titan Cronos recieves a prophecy that one of his children will overthrow him. To prevent this, he eats his children each time they are born. Overcome with grief, Cronos' wife hides her last child from Cronos. This child was Zeus. She hides baby Zeus and he is trained to one day overthrow his father.
For the picture, I took a picture of a statue of a little boy with wings. The little boy is obviously young Zeus. He is depressed because he is the only child who has survived from his father's cruel actions. The wings are meant to symbolize that he is a higher being. The enhanced rough texture of the statue shows how rough Zues' childhood was and the things he had to go through to get to the place he is now. Also, the ray of light in the background is a symbol of hope. The odds are all against Zeus, but there is a single ray of hope that he will overthrow his terrible father in the years to come. Overall i think i did a pretty good job. I sharpened the picture and added the background. I also enhanced the shadows by burning them very dark. I'm very proud iwth how this turned out.

Cupid and Psyche

First, I edited the sunset in there from a very bright blue and gray sky. I added a reddish/orange tint to everything to get it to blend in well. In one part of Cupid and Psyche, Cupid is not allowed to marry his love Psyche. As a result he stops shooting arrows. As a result of no one falling in love, the world slowly begins to die. In order to interpret this, I had danny stand behind a dead corn field with nothing in the background. This is to symbolize the rest of the world without love. Also, he is depressed and alone in the presence of a magnificent sunset because he cannot share it with his love Psyche.

Portrait #3

I wanted to try and experiment with a silhoutte portrait in this one. Personally, I think that it turned out very well. I like how the sun is the first focal point, but then it leads the viewer's eye to the dark shadow of Kent. In the beginning there was a branch coming in from the top of the picture, and there was color glares splotched in places. I clone stamped both of these. My favorite part of this picture would most definitely be the background. It creates an amazing sense of depth and also has great texture.

Portrait #2

I like this picture mainly because of the detail. His shirt gives a great sense of texture and also there are ver light shadows cast all over him. I think this is a good representation of Danny mainly because of the confused look on his face. Danny is a very smart kid, but always has a confused and carefree look on his face. I blurred the background severely and erased his lips and eyes to get them to pop out more.

Portrait #1

I find that portraits are intended to be an interpretation of the person within the portrait. For this first one i chose my dog Meatball. In the picture you have this really goofy look on his face and he's very large. You have one big lopping paw in the background which leaves the viewer to interpret what the rest of Meatball looks like. I wish the image was sharper and there was less things going on in the background.

Look Like Lomogrpahy

I actually like the look of this picture better than the original. My two favorite parts are the the "visg" around the center, creating a better and more prominent focal point. Also, I like how sharp and detailed the image is. All the while, this still remains an interpretation of the color red.

The Yellow Wallpaper

The main point of this piece is to show how the girl within the painting appears trapped. Like the girl within the story, she would always see a girl trapped within the wallpaper, trying to get out. In reality, she saw that girl as herself, because she was free during the day when her husband was gone, but trapped at night when he was there. In this photo, you can really see the girl in the painting blend in almost and you mainly know that it is a person becuase of the eyes. I color balanced the photo to an extreme yellow and converted most of the colors within it to yellow. But i also left some colors so the viewer could still grasp the basic shape of a person.

Color Psychology #4

This picture is my least favorite for the color psychology assignment. But, an important way that orange is used is to demand attention. And in this picture, I think i did a pretty good job in bringing the viewers full attention to the dump truck. Also, orange is supposed to give off a feel of energy, and I also think that dump trucks symbolize work, which can require a lot of energy. Also, I placed a bucket in the background that was red and yellow, showing the basis of orange and really bringing it out.

Color Psychology #3

Red is intended to be the most emotionally intense color. In this pucture, I think that it brings out all of the emotions that the viewer tries to keep away. The main point being a devil, it symbolizes something dark, secretive, or rule-breaking. I made the backgound red and the floor dark in order to get the full blown intsnse emotional feel.

Color Psychology #2

This is my favorite picture for the color psychology assignment. Blue and orange are on opposite sides of the color spectrum and are considered unattractive when used together. Yet, I think the blue really makes the orange ball pop out. Blue is supposed to give the viewer a cool and calm feeling, while orange is intended to give the viewer a stimulated feeling. I think this contrast actually worked together very well in the end.

Color Psychology #1

The reason why the writers of Spiderman chose the suit colors red and blue was to show off a sense of patriotism, Red and blue being the two main colors of the flag, it stated, "We are better than communism" due to the fact that Spiderman came to life during the cold war. Articles state that red gives the viewer a "take action" feeling, and blue gives the viewer a touch of superiority. I think this picture does give the viewer a take action feel because the red is so prominent from the background. Also, Spidey's stance and the blue give the viewer a feel of how superior Spidey is.

Repulsive to Attractive

The point of these two pictures is to show how the metal is faded and will continue to fade until there is nothing but a dull silver color left. But in this picture, I captured the unnatractive silver and contrasted it with the original bright colors of the playground. I blurred the backgrounds of both in order to really make the points of interst pop. I think that I did a good job, but I also believe that the pictures are too similar for my taste.

Attractive to Repulsive #2

I tried to steer from the generic meaning of attractive with this photo. I think it is attractive because everything forms into a pattern and all the lines are very straight and neat. Also, the color scheme is very consistent and the contrast is very bold, giving me the impression of an attractive picture. But it could also be considered repulsive because of the constant color scheme. The dark colors of the picture are usually considered depressing Also, the background is very gray and dreary, giving the person the feeling that they would not want to be outside at the time.

Attractive to Repulsive #1

For this photo I took a picture of icicles because I believe that they could be considered attractive because they are a raw creation of nature. I added colors into the icicles to make them more attractive. But i also think that these icicles have a repulsive side because of where they are set, have a very jagged quality to them, and come off in a point that is almost scary.

Inactivity

The point of this second montage is to portray how inactive american lifestlye is. The tv is the brightest part of the picture showing its domincance over everything else. Also the game stack is larger than everything else showing it's dominance over other more proactive activities such as running on the treadmil, reading, skateboarding, or snowboarding. Also, I took a picture of my room with close strewn about the floor and darkened it to give the the montage an inactive and lazy feeling. If you look closely I have the words "Only 31%" across the treadmil. Statistics show that only 31% of Americans reported regular physical activity. I think I did a better job on my first one appearnce wise, but I think that I did a good job interpreting the meaning of the montage on this one.

Importance

The first montage that i constructed was a montage that symbolized important people within my life. All the pictures were added via photoshop, and i darkened them and made them opaque in order to give the viewer the impression that the photos are inside the photobook. The empty portion on the right symbolizes the future and how there will be many other people that will influence me. I chose to include the saying "Live. Laugh. Love." within this montage because that is my family's favorite saying.

Day to Night

The goal of this assignment was to take a picture during the day and edit it to look like it was night. My original picture was too complicated to turn into night so I grabbed one of of google and converted it to night. I added a moon to the picture and think that I did a pretty good job overall on converting it.

iPod Advertisement

I used my friend Audrey as the model for this picture. The goal of this assignment was to take a normal picture and turn it into what looks like the famous iPod Advertisements. I think i did a pretty good job because i toned out all of the rough edges and edited her hand to look like it was holding the ipod.

Space Collage

My original plan for this was to have a skateboarder getting followed by nothing short of a small army. But when I googled helicopter, I got a picture that is the background in this one. So I decided to make the skateboarder grinding the helicopter blade and then made it as hectic and random as possible. But even though it looks random, every object comes together in some sort of way. For example, I put the hippie in there not only for a retro object, but also to make it look like she's protesting against the police.
